Yolanda Be Cool Vs DCUP - We No Speak Americano
'We No Speak Americano is a song by Australian dance duo Yolanda Be Cool and producer DCUP, released on independent Australian label Sweat It Out in February 2010. The song samples 1956 song 'Tu vuo fa l'americano' by Renato Carosone.
The video is set out in the style of a Chaplinesque silent film, with the Italian protagonist trying to make some fast money in New York. One noticeable feature is the way the whole video has been sped up, creating more of a comedic atmosphere (similar to Charlie Chaplin films), while matching the style of the music as well. This is a technique that we will be using in the editing process of our video as we are looking to create the same effect. We feel that the 'fast forward' technique perfectly matches the fast paced tempo and the choppy, upbeat style of 'A-Punk', and we hope to utilise this technique as successfully as it was used here.
